WHAT IS A "MED/PED" DOCTOR?Primary care practices that offer only care for adults (Internal Medicine) or children (Pediatrics) do not offer the kind of family care that can be provided by a Med/Ped doctor. A Med/Ped doctor is one that is trained in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
Caring for all members of the family provides a unique insight into the needs of each patient and leads to a better understanding of each patient, which in turn leads to more efficient care and longer doctor-patient relationships. In addition, pediatric patients do not have to find a new doctor just because they turn 18 years old! |
